  • REALTOR® Caucus Sets 2013 Legislative Policy Priorities

    On Thursday, September 6, Arizona’s most politically active REALTOR® members will meet at the Chaparral Suites in Scottsdale for the annual REALTOR® Caucus. This event is intended to help provide AAR with input on current issues affecting the real estate industry as well as to discuss recommendations for possible legislative or regulatory actions in the coming legislative session.

    From across 15 counties, residing in many of Arizona’s 90 towns and cities, REALTOR® delegates appointed to represent Arizona’s 21 local boards and associations take time away from their busy schedules for a town-hall-style meeting to review, discuss and debate the current issues impacting real estate industry issues and practices. Any key recommendations from these discussions and collaborative roll calls will then be forwarded to AAR’s Legislative & Political Affairs Committee and then to the AAR Board of Directors for approval.

    The annual REALTOR® Caucus is a long-held tradition and is the start of the “new year” for AAR’s assessment of the state of Arizona public policy. The legislature begins its Regular Session each year on the second Monday of January, as prescribed in the state constitution. The REALTOR® Caucus proceeds the state capitol’s autumn season of bill drafting and bill-sponsor-seeking efforts by stakeholder groups, which sets the stage for live legislation during the 2013 session.

Three Ways to Meet the Quadrennial Code of Ethics Requirement

All REALTORS® must complete a Code of Ethics class that fulfills the NAR quadrennial Code of Ethics requirement by December 31, 2012. AAR has several upcoming classes that are approved for this requirement:

1. GRI 308 – Safe Real Estate
CE: 5-Commissioner’s Standards/3-legal issues/3-disclosure/3-agency law

In this two-day course, a requirement for the GRI designation, students focus on the obligations of the Code of Ethics, study related Standards of Practice and Case Interpretations, review case studies, compare the obligations of the Commissioner’s Rules to the Code of Ethics, and look at commission issues that lead to commission disputes and how they are resolved. 2. Seller Representative Specialist (SRS) Course

The online class takes about 2 ½ hours to complete. No CE is available for the free online class.
