THIS MONTH WE ARE CELEBRATING. . .
May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month
May is recognized as Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month(AAPI), a time to celebrate the vibrant cultures, rich histories, and significant contributions of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islander Americans. Established in 1990, this month commemorates the first Japanese immigrants to the United States and the anniversary of the transcontinental railroad, where a majority of the workers were Chinese immigrants responsible for laying the tracks. AAPI Heritage Month serves as a tribute to the resilience, innovation, and cultural richness of these communities. It also highlights both the challenges and triumphs of the AAPI experience and fosters a greater understanding and appreciation for their contributions to society. https://www.asianpacificheritage.gov/About.html
