September is known for a return to normal routines as summer comes to a close. However, this September in Congress will be anything but routine. While NAR continues to be on the frontlines, fighting for REALTOR® priorities every step of the way and the Arizona REALTORS® have been supporting that fight at every turn. 

NAR has been advocating on a wide array of issues in both the bipartisan infrastructure legislation and budget reconciliation bill; issues such as: protecting like-kind exchanges under section 1031 and stepped-up basis, opposing increases to capital gains, to investing in the nation’s housing stock and increasing affordable housing around the country.

On top of voting on these major legislative packages, Congress faces a September 30th deadline to fund the government. Likely to be tied in with those negotiations is a looming need to raise the debt ceiling. The debate on these issues is expected to be contentious and challenging.

While the advocacy list is long, the Arizona REALTORS® is working hard with NAR; identifying key stakeholders and building grassroots coalitions in Arizona to bolster and amplify our messaging – so when it comes time to vote, we know that  REALTOR® Party priorities are not just considered, but included in final legislation.
