This is the first article in an ongoing series designed to highlight the great work and successes of the local associations. The first post appears courtesy of Matt Ortega, Director of Government Affairs at SEVAR. If you have a story of your local association demonstrating leadership and would like to be features in The Arizona REALTOR® Voice, please email your story to voice@aaronline.com.

On August 21, SEVRAR held its end of summer celebration with “Hot Summer Nights.” Our follow-up to our successful “White Party” last September, “Hot Summer Nights” enhanced the entertainment and value for SEVRAR members while raising over $22,000 for the REALTORS® of Arizona Political Action Committee (RAPAC).  Our primary entertainment was “Dueling Pianos” featuring two very talented musicians who brought their special brand of musical expertise and audience engagement to our members.  Additionally there was a buffet of delicious food, a ring toss where winners won bottles of wine, a memorable photo booth, and both a silent and live auction.

While SEVRAR’s goal was to provide our members with a fun and relaxing evening, we also supported our fund raising efforts for RAPAC, our voice of advocacy at the local, state and national level.  In addition to SEVRAR’s and AAR’s government affairs efforts, RAPAC protects the livelihood of our REALTORS® and preserves home ownership.  Our bi-partisan “one voice” protects us from onerous local ordinances and regulations by helping us identify and support political candidates who understand and support REALTOR® priorities.  Our sincere thanks go to our RAPAC Chairman Jeff Murray, Vice Chair Julie Quesada and all the committee members, sponsors and members who made the evening a great success.
