Designations & Certifications

The NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® has nine affiliated Institutes, Societies, and Councils, and two certification programs. The ISCs provide a wide-ranging menu of programs and services to assist members in increasing skills, productivity and knowledge. Designations acknowledging experience and expertise in various real estate sectors are awarded by each affiliated group upon completion of required courses. In addition, NAR offers two certification programs.

Ethics Education Requirement - NAR

Members of NAR are required to complete ethics training of not less than 2 hours and 30 minutes once every four years.

GRI

The GRI designation is a national designation delivered by the state REALTOR® associations. The 90-hour course of study meets the accreditation standards established by the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®. Upon completion of the program, students are awarded the GRI designation (Graduate REALTOR® Institute). Only members of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® may hold the GRI designation.

 Leadership Training Academy (LTA)

The AAR leadership development program consists of: LTA1: Basics; LTA2: Public Speaking; and LTA3/4: Managing, Leading and Growing. If the idea of getting involved in leadership in the real estate community ever crossed your mind or you can see yourself serving on a committee, board of directors or as an officer, this program may be for you. LTA1 is a prerequisite to LTA2 and LTA3/4.

 

The three LTA classes are held in the first quarter of each year. LTA 2010 is now complete. Please stay tuned for LTA 2011 dates. In the meantime, you may want to consider NAR’s REALTORS® Excelling in Association Leadership (REAL) Self-Study Course

 

 

MRE - General Information/Criteria

MRE Society (Master of Real Estate) could be just what you need.  The Professional & Business Development Committee created this Society to recognize members' educational accomplishments and provide you with a tool to market your accomplishments to the public. The application/renewal application for the MRE will be available annually starting October 1.

NAR Rocky Mountain Regional Conference

This conference is held annually in February to discuss issues common within the Region - Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming.  Issues range from NAR political considerations to growth, water, etc.  All efforts are made to have some of the National Association leadership in attendance, which allows for informal input from the Region to NAR leadership.  The Conferences target for attendees is state leadership, national directors, and leadership of the larger local associations, but attendance is open to any member within the six-state region.

This event is held at the Arizona Capitol at the beginning of every other year or on an as needed basis. Your help in supporting and protecting your industry and your customers is critical. REALTOR® Day at the Capitol gives REALTORS® the opportunity to meet with their legislators and voice support of the Association's positions on public policy in Arizona while enjoying a catered luncheon.

REALTORS® Excelling in Association Leadership (REAL) Self-Study Course

This free course from NAR provides association leadership training in six subjects, including budgeting, meeting management, association governance, and legislative and regulatory advocacy. The course can be completed online and is structured so you can complete it at your convenience.

SRS (Seller Representative Specialist)

SRS is the premiere seller agency designation, conferred by the SRS Council, recognizing real estate professionals who have completed special education in seller representation. The SRS covers a comprehensive look at seller representation, including marketing, but also discusses the full lineup of legal issues, Code of Ethics issues and practical issues of getting the listing from acquisition to closing.
