The Association Vision
The vision of the Arizona Association of REALTORS® (AAR) is:
REALTOR®... the best prepared real estate practitioner with the highest standards.

Basic Structure
  • AAR is a professional trade association for individuals involved in the real estate industry, allied industries, and firms.
  • AAR is the largest trade association in Arizona and is a part of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®, which is headquartered in Chicago and has a membership of over 1 million members.
  • AAR is composed of 21 local associations of REALTORS®, seven affiliated chapters of the Institutes, Societies and Councils. Member classes also include Institute Affiliate members, Affiliate members, and REALTOR- ASSOCIATES®.
  • The local associations and Institute, Society, and Council chapters are autonomous. AAR's bylaws and governing documents are in full compliance with the bylaws and policies of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®.
  • The REALTORS® of Arizona Political Action Committee (RAPAC) is a committee affiliated with AAR and is not connected to any political party.
  • The Arizona REALTORS® Housing Needs Foundation is a separate 501 (C) (3) charitable organization established to foster and encourage affordable housing in Arizona.
  • The Arizona REALTORS® Disaster Assistance Foundation, Inc. is a separate 501 (C) (3) charitable organization established to assist individuals and/or entities experiencing personal or natural tragedies.
  • AAR is a not-for-profit Arizona corporation with 501 C(6) IRS status.
Leadership
  • A 142 member Board of Directors governs AAR.
  • A 15 member Executive Committee conducts the Association's business between meetings of the Board of Directors.
  • AAR officers consist of a president, president-elect, first vice president, treasurer, and five regional vice presidents.
  • AAR employs a Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The CEO also serves as Corporate Secretary and is responsible to the Board of Directors and Executive Committee for staffing and administration of the association. There are currently 29 employees including the CEO.
  • AAR has 36 members serving as Directors of the National Association.
Committee Structure
  • AAR has five Primary Committee areas: Operations & Strategic Initiatives; Communications & Technology; Professional and Business Development; Risk Management, and Legislative & Political Affairs Oversight. Each area establishes work groups, committees, and forums as needed. An officer of the association serves as a liaison to each key result area.
  • In addition to its many other work groups, AAR has four standing committees: Grievance, Professional Standards, REALTORS® Issues Mobilization, and REALTORS® of Arizona Political Action Committee.
Membership
  • Membership is open to all individuals who are engaged in the real estate business in Arizona, including licensed salespeople, brokers, and appraisers, and to allied industries such as banks, savings and loans, title companies, etc., who join as Affiliate Members.
  • More than two-thirds of all active Arizona real estate licensees (74%) are REALTORS®.
  • Individuals who join the organization at the local association level automatically become members of AAR and the National Association as well.
  • As of May 2009, AAR had 42,614 members.
  • Nearly 74% of AAR's membership belongs to four local associations within the Phoenix metropolitan area; 86% of AAR's membership belongs to the five largest local associations (Phoenix, Tucson, Scottsdale Area, West Maricopa County Regional and SouthEast Valley Regional).
Financial
  • AAR fiscal year is the calendar year and accounting is on an accrual basis.
  • The approved budget for 2009 is $7,563,778 with 91% of the income being dues related.

  • Winter Conference, March 18-19, 2009, Prescott, Arizona.
  • Leadership Conference, October 14-15, 2009 Phoenix, Arizona.
  • The Primary Committees, work groups, committees, etc., meet on an as-needed basis.
