AAR Dispute Resolution Programs

Only REALTORS® and REALTOR ASSOCIATES® are subject to the Code of Ethics of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® (NAR). If the real estate professional (or his or her broker) you are dealing with is not a REALTOR®, options may include contacting the state real estate licensing authority or 602.771.7730, or the courts.

REALTOR® associations are responsible for enforcing the REALTORĀ® Code of Ethics.

NOTE: If your dispute is solely with a member of the Southeast Valley Regional Association of REALTORS® (SEVRAR), please contact the SEVRAR Professional Standards Department at 480-833-7510 for assistance.

REALTOR® Mediation

Trained REALTORĀ® Mediators help to facilitate communication and assist the parties in an ethics complaint or arbitration dispute to reach a mutually agreeable resolution. The resolution is then reduced to writing, and signed by all parties.

Ethics

REALTORS® pledge to abide by a Code of Ethics, or code of conduct, to their clients, customers, members of the public and fellow REALTORS®. The enforcement of the REALTOR® Code of Ethics is a responsibility of the REALTOR® Association.

Arbitration

Resolution of disputes regarding entitlement to commissions and compensation may be an obligation of the REALTOR® Association, according to Article 17 of the Code of Ethics.

Buyer-Seller Dispute

Some Arizona real estate purchase contracts provide remedies to resolve disputes between buyers and sellers. Disputes may concern earnest money, property condition, and others.

Legal Hotline

The AAR Legal Hotline service is a member benefit to designated REALTORS® (brokers). The service is designed to answer legal questions about the diversified areas of today’s real estate industry.
