Log-In Note: The digital edition and some online articles require you to log in before viewing. Why? AAR password protects content that could help non-licensees close a real estate transaction without the benefit of a REALTOR®; risk management/legal articles; and some legislative information. 2010 is almost upon us. What will it bring? A revitalized market or status quo? What do you do? What can you expect? Experts say that our market has stabilized. Has it for you? This is a great moment that is creating a great opportunity for all of us. Our journey begins here. This is the theme of my year as your president.

It is important for us to understand that we must work through the market shifts and return to basics.

  • Re-contact everyone you know.
  • Offer updates on property values.
  • Offer searches for renters.
  • Know what financing alternatives are being offered in the state.
  • Contact out-of-town real estate agents for referrals.
  • Take more education.
  • Obtain designations.
  • Get involved. Volunteer.

2010 AAR President Holly Eslinger

This is a chance for you to look to your local and state associations for opportunities. Your local association offers you educational opportunities, like GRI classes, as well as legislative representation. They offer you RAPAC, your legislative insurance, which protects you against legislation that negatively impacts our industry. Each association offers different opportunities – get involved with your local association and discover its many benefits.

Your state association offers you legislative and political advocacy, professional and business development, risk management and technology. AAR also provides ways to stay abreast of industry trends, including Arizona REALTOR® Magazine, Facebook and Twitter updates, Capitol Insider and more. And I am sure you recognize Proposition 100 (constitutional change to eliminate the possibilty of a real estate transfer tax), Broker University, conferences, GRI, Leadership Training Academy, Road to Professionalism, podcasts and webinars, Legal Hotline, Certified Risk Management Specialist certification, professional standards, ZipForms, disaster assistance and Transaction Management. If you don’t recognize these offerings, visit www.aaronline.com. You will be amazed at the depth of information contained there.

What is next? AAR researches member benefits continually. Current research is being done on a statewide MLS, data sharing, workspace, websites, master level education, mentor systems for brokers, business planning and risk management classes.

The journey begins today. We are your partners in this new opportunity. We value you and know you look to your leaders to provide you with new and creative opportunities. Watch our communications. Communicate your needs. We will listen.

Let me leave you with this quote: “Behind every success is effort. Behind every effort is passion. Behind every passion is someone with the courage to try.”

As your 2010 president, I promise I will try to provide an environment for you to be successful.
